D-Day of Social Mobilization is scheduled for August 22nd. The strategy seeks to identify children and adolescents who have not yet been vaccinated or who have overdue doses, ensuring that the schedules are updated in accordance with the National Vaccination Calendar. The target audience comprises people aged up to 14 years, 11 months and 29 days. During mobilization, health teams will individually evaluate the booklets and provide guidance on the doses needed for each age group. Parents and guardians must present the vaccination record so that the history can be checked by professionals. The action also expands access to vaccines offered free of charge by the Unified Health System and strengthens the prevention of vaccine-preventable diseases. Maintaining high vaccination coverage is essential to reduce the risk of reintroduction and circulation of diseases such as measles and polio, especially given the global epidemiological scenario. One of the main updates to the National Vaccination Calendar is the introduction of the second booster of the Inactivated Polio Vaccine, VIP, administered injectable form at 4 years of age. Children with an incomplete schedule will be able to receive the indicated doses up to 4 years, 11 months and 29 days, after evaluation by the health team. In addition to protecting each child and adolescent individually, vaccination contributes to the collective protection of the population. Updating doses helps reduce cases, complications, hospitalizations, sequelae and deaths caused by diseases that can be prevented with immunization.
