Man is arrested with 22 kg of marijuana hidden in suitcases on the Transamazônica, in Altamira Ascom/PC A man was arrested red-handed with around 22 kg of marijuana during an approach on the Transamazônica Highway, in Altamira, in the southwest of Pará. The seizure took place on Wednesday (5), in the Buriti neighborhood. According to the Civil Police, the action was carried out after a complaint reported that a large quantity of drugs was being transported from Santarém to Altamira. During the approach to a passenger transport vehicle, the police searched the luggage compartment and found a suitcase with 12 marijuana tablets. After identifying the luggage, the agents located the passenger responsible. With him, a second suitcase containing another 10 tablets of the drug was found. In total, 22 marijuana tablets were seized, weighing approximately 22 kilos, as well as a cell phone. The man was arrested for drug trafficking and taken to the police station. He remains at the disposal of the Court, and the case continues to be investigated by the Civil Police.
