Man arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and keeping ex-wife in private prison in SC A 38-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon (4) on suspicion of kidnapping his ex-wife, aged 43, after she left for work in Santa Cecília, in the west of Santa Catarina, the Civil Police reported. He also kept the victim in private prison. She was rescued unharmed and spent more than 24 hours in the man's possession. As the woman did not arrive at work, the police were called by family members. The investigation found that the victim was approached and forcibly placed in a red pickup truck. This situation was confirmed by images from surveillance cameras and witnesses. During investigations, the police located the truck and another car, a Ka, which was used by the man later. On Tuesday afternoon, the suspect was found near the Santa Cecília bus station, inside the Ka car. The woman was also in the vehicle and was rescued. The police arrested the suspect. He was handcuffed to prevent him from escaping and to ensure the team's safety. The woman told the police that she was taken to the neighboring city of Caçador, but was brought back to Santa Cecília.
