According to the document, the investigation began following anonymous complaints about the alleged activity of a criminal organization in the community of Bebelândia, in Santa Rita. The group, of which councilor João Alves was one of those investigated, was suspected, in theory, of involvement in a criminal organization, drug trafficking, trafficking association, possession or illegal carrying of a firearm, threats and coercion of witnesses. During the investigation, the Civil Police carried out investigations, carried out search and seizure warrants, carried out interrogations and submitted the cell phone seized from the parliamentarian for forensic examination. At the end of the investigation, the police authority concluded that none of these measures confirmed the initial suspicions and decided to close the case. The Public Ministry followed this understanding. The decision highlights, however, that the investigation may be reopened if new evidence emerges. Furthermore, the cell phone seized from João Alves was ordered to be returned, as the examination was concluded without producing elements of interest to the investigation. Remember the case João Alves was the target of search and seizure warrants during Operation Bebelândia II, launched by the Civil Police. The warrants were carried out at the parliamentarian's residence, office and office, at Santa Rita City Hall. At the time, the corporation reported that he was being investigated for alleged involvement in drug trafficking. In a note sent to g1, the councilor stated that the information was "somewhat untrue and unfounded". He also declared that "nothing, absolutely nothing illegal, criminal or irregular was found or seized" at the addresses where the warrants were served. At the time, the Santa Rita City Council reported that the operation was not related to the exercise of parliamentary mandate and stated that it would remain at the disposal of the authorities to collaborate with the investigations.
