Indigenous Leu Daiane, from the Rikbaktsa people, stated that communities face difficulties in accessing basic health services. "We are here demanding quality healthcare in our villages. There is a lack of adequate care, sanitation, transport and medicines. We have patients waiting for more than 30 and even 60 days for an appointment. When it comes to healthcare, we are talking about lives", he said. Another complaint presented by the protesters is the lack of medicines considered basic and vehicles for transporting patients in emergency situations. "We don't have the basics within the village, which is dipyrone, paracetamol. We don't have the cars to deal with emergencies that leave the villages for the city. We're talking about assistance that is precarious", stated the leader of the demonstration Jaime Rikbaktsa. According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), due to the blockade, traffic is completely interrupted in both directions of the highway. The queue of vehicles already stretches for a few kilometers. The PRF also said that it remains on site to ensure the safety of highway users and monitor the development of the demonstration. New information will be released as the incident evolves. Rede Amazônica contacted the Special Indigenous Health District (DSEI) Vilhena and the Secretariat of Indigenous Health (Sesai) to ask for a position on the protesters' demands and until the last update of this article there was no response.
