Children sing and make posters to say goodbye to the doctor Three months after the tribute paid by children during his farewell to the Lagoa do Romão Family Health Unit, in Peixe, doctor Thiago de Moura Arruda continues to be remembered for the impact he left on the community. For administrative assistant Elaine Cristina Campos Parente Silva, who worked with him for four years, the legacy built by the professional remains alive among both his co-workers and the residents he serves. "Working with Dr. Thiago was a wonderful experience, which I will cherish for the rest of my life. His legacy will remain alive not only in the [health] unit, but also in the hearts of the entire community", he stated. Thiago's story gained repercussion after a video showed children from the village singing the song 'Você é Especial', by singers Daniel & Samuel, with posters honoring the doctor on the day he announced his departure from the health unit (watch above). The gesture went viral on social media. According to the doctor himself, the farewell was one of the most memorable moments of his professional career. ? She said that the doctor was looking for alternatives to ensure that residents had access to the necessary care and was constantly concerned about the needs of the community. "He always had strategies to ensure that each resident of the community received decent care. He put people's well-being first," he said. According to Elaine, daily interaction with the doctor left lessons learned that continue to be present in the team's work routine. "He was more than an excellent professional, he was a friend, companion and, above all, he was an incredible human being, I would like to say that to him", he said. Nurse Livia Moura also has good memories of spending time with the doctor. "During the four years he was here, a family bond was built with the patients. He knows everyone by name", he highlighted. MORE Thiago thanked him for the care he received and highlighted the importance of family medicine in building bonds with patients. "I went to the community, visited those who couldn't come, encouraged those who lacked courage, showed the children that going to the clinic is not punishment. I loved the patients, the team, the stories, the lessons, even the obstacles!", he wrote on social media. The farewell was performed by students and teachers from the village's rural school. The village is in the rural area of ??Peixe, around 80 kilometers from the city, which makes the community more united and sincere, according to Thiago. Currently, the doctor works at the Aeroporto Basic Health Unit in the city of Peixe. He says that the new experience brings different professional challenges. “I experience social inequalities with patients in a more raw way, as in rural areas it was more masked by the union between community members”, he reported.
