City of Rio Sono, in Tocantins Disclosure/City Hall of Rio Sono The court ordered the blocking of two public lands in the municipality of Rio Sono, in the central region of the state, which were sold to former mayor Francisco Barbosa Bezerra for R$809.08. According to a complaint from the Public Ministry of Tocantins (MPTO), in one of the cases, he signed a contract with himself, acting as representative of the municipality and buyer. The first purchase occurred in 1996, when then-mayor Francisco Bezerra purchased a plot of land measuring 13.9388 hectares for R$209.08. The land was placed in his name and that of Arnon Coelho Bezerra. In the second purchase, in 2005, he paid R$600.00 for a farm in the suburban area with the "collaboration" of a woman who acted as the official head of the property registry office, according to civil action by the MPTO. ? The MP requested that the sales be declared null and void, that the property records be canceled and that the areas be returned to municipal assets. In addition, he requested compensation from the public coffers in the amount of R$500,000, which would include income that the properties could have generated during the period in which they remained in private ownership. Judge Luatom Bezerra Adelino de Lima recognized signs of irregularities and ordered the immediate blocking of the two properties, in order to prevent them from being sold, in addition to the registration in the property records at the Notary's Office stating that the properties are under judicial restriction. Defense and sentence The accused were asked to present a written defense within 15 working days. If the defendants do not present a defense within this period, a default judgment may be issued, in which case the Court may consider the facts narrated by the MP as true due to lack of defense. The Court also ordered that the case be referred to a conciliation hearing by the Judicial Center for Conflict Resolution and Citizenship. See more news from the region on g1 Tocantins.
