Operation arrests suspect for energy theft in RO Reproduction/Energisa A person was arrested red-handed for energy theft during an operation carried out on Friday (10), in Ji-Paraná (RO). In the same action, a high-end residential property was also the target of investigation after the identification of energy consumption fraud. Authorities did not release the identity of the arrested suspect or the name of the residence. The arrest took place in the Boa Esperança neighborhood. According to the energy concessionaire, teams identified an irregular connection at the property and called the Military Police and the Technical-Scientific Police (Politec), who confirmed the fraud. The suspect was taken to the Integrated Public Security Unit (Unisp). During the operation, the teams also found irregularities in a condominium located in the south of the city. At the site, more than 300 lighting points were switched on so that energy consumption was not recorded by the meter. Politec carried out the investigation and confirmed the irregularity. A police report was registered against the condominium. According to the concessionaire, clandestine connections and other fraud in the electrical network can cause overloads, short circuits, fires and accidents, in addition to constituting a crime.
