The alert quota is an intermediate stage between the attention quota and the flood quota. It indicates that the water level has already reached a level considered worrying and that there is a greater probability of impacts in the most vulnerable areas. While the attention quota serves as a first signal to reinforce monitoring, the alert quota indicates a higher risk scenario and the possibility of flooding if the increase continues. The flood level is reached when the water actually overflows and starts to invade streets, homes or other structures. The city hall was already working on the possibility of Guaíba reaching the alert quota this weekend. "Our expectation is that here in the Capital, in Cais, this level could fluctuate between 2.70 and 2.90 meters", said Colonel Luciano Boeira, coordinator of Protection and Civil Defense of RS, last Wednesday (29). According to the Porto Alegre Civil Defense, the flood could cause impacts mainly in riverside areas of the Islands, as well as regions in the Far South and South Zone of the city.
