Delegate Marina Delgado talks about Operation Safe Paradise The 32-year-old tourist from São Paulo shot dead inside a restaurant on the seafront of Porto de Galinhas, in Ipojuca, Greater Recife, on January 4, was killed after a disturbance for a trivial reason, according to the Civil Police. The details of the case were presented this Monday (13), during a press conference (see video above). The crime happened while the victim, Rafael Ventura Martins, was having dinner with his partner at the Caldinho do Nenen restaurant. According to delegate Marina Delgado, the man was involved in an argument with Daniel de Souza, identified as head of a criminal organization. He was arrested on Friday (10), during Operation Paraíso Seguro, in Porto Belo (SC). ? Receive news from g1 PE on WhatsApp "The motivation for the crime was, initially, a banal motivation. There was an argument between the victim and a leader of a criminal organization. They were surprised, they didn't fight well and, later, with the arrival of the victim's wife at the restaurant, one of the people who accompanied the leader of that organization made a joke. The victim didn't like it either and they got into a verbal fight again", detailed the delegate. Also according to Marina Delgado, the two shots that killed the victim were fired after Rafael Ventura Martins received a gun from the head of the criminal organization. g1 tries to contact Daniel de Souza's defense. "As this fight escalated, almost leading to confrontation, this leader approached the victim, shot him with a pistol and, at the exact moment, his accomplices, who acted as his security guard, fired two shots, killing the victim on the spot," he stated. Still according to the corporation, Kelvin Michael da Silva, 21 years old, was identified as the person who carried out the shooting, but he had already been arrested in the municipality of Irecê, in Bahia. The investigations also identified Edson Paulo da Silva, who would have helped in the escape after the crime, but he was killed in February, in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, in Greater Recife. Although the victim had a criminal record, police reported that they were referring to offenses prior to the day of the argument. According to investigations, there is no evidence that this history is related to the homicide. The delegate also informed that the investigation was concluded and forwarded to the Court. Now, it is up to the Public Ministry to analyze the case and decide whether to file charges against those being investigated. "The criminal organization that was there was made up of other people, but this investigation has already been completed in relation to the murder of this tourist and has already been sent to justice, with complaints already received and the case is now being processed in court", he informed. According to the statement, Caldinho do Nenen stated that: "an episode of violence involving customers occurred" in the restaurant; “deeply regrets what happened” and expresses “solidarity with the victim, his family and everyone involved”; "from the first moment, our team provided the necessary support and is fully collaborating with the competent authorities to clarify the facts"; reinforces the "commitment to safety, respect for life and the well-being of all".
