People from Tocantins who were traveling to Piauí may have drowned in an accident in Maranhão Helena Ferreira de Freitas, Núbia Alves Brito, Maria de Fátima da Costa Boaventura and Marinalva Alves da Silva were going on vacation on the coast of Piauí to celebrate a reunion, according to their family. The four friends died after an accident on BR-226, in Maranhão. It is suspected that the victims drowned after falling into a lake on the banks of the highway, according to the MA Civil Police. The accident would have happened after the driver, Núbia Alves, lost control of the car while overtaking. The vehicle overturned, fell off a cliff and was submerged in a lake. The case was registered this Thursday (9). According to her niece, Rebeca Silva, Marinalva lived in Ireland and had recently returned to Brazil to see her friends and family. "She came to Araguaína on vacation to visit her family and then they decided to go on a trip," he explained. The bodies of Marinalva Alves da Silva and Núbia Alves Brito were laid to rest together at Marinalva's house, in Araguaína, on Friday (10). Marinalva's burial should only take place this Saturday (11), after the arrival of her daughter, who lives in Europe.
