The Civil Police confirmed the incident and reported that the case is under investigation. According to preliminary information from the investigation, the victim was at the establishment accompanied by his wife and a friend when he was surprised by gunshots. Cassiano was hit in the back of the head and died at the scene. ? Investigations were initiated to investigate the circumstances of the case. The Civil Police reported that the crime remains under investigation to identify the perpetrator and motivation. The Brazilian Bar Association in Rio Grande do Norte (OAB/RN) reported that it received "with deep regret" the news of the murder of lawyer Cassiano José Pereira da Silva. In an official note, the entity stated that it is following the case through the Attorney's Office for the Defense of Prerogatives, together with the Goianinha Subsection, and that it monitors the steps taken by the authorities. "The OAB/RN will continue to monitor the investigations, with the aim of contributing to the rapid elucidation of the crime and the due accountability of those involved", informed the institution. Cassiano was also a servant at Pedro Velho Education. In a note of condolence, the city council stated that he "left his contribution to Pedro Velho" and expressed solidarity with his family, friends and co-workers. "In this moment of pain, we unite in prayer and solidarity with his family, friends, co-workers and everyone who had the privilege of living with him", informed the city hall.
