In 2024, Santana had recorded 54.1 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, which indicates a decline in numbers, even though it remains the most violent city in the state. Furthermore, the state leads, for the seventh consecutive year, the police fatality rate in the country and has some of the highest rates of violence against women, children and adolescents. The study prepared by the Brazilian Public Security Forum (FBSP) considers indicators of violence across the country and brings together statistics on homicides, police fatalities, violence against women, children and adolescents, among other crimes.
