Click here and subscribe to the g1 Maranhão channel on WhatsApp Accordingly with the Municipal Finance Secretariat (Semfaz), payment guides can be issued via the agency's portal or in person at the secretariat's service points. According to Semfaz, the amounts collected from IPTU are used to finance public services and investments in areas such as health, education, infrastructure, urban mobility, public cleaning, among other actions aimed at the development of the capital. The secretariat also informs that requests for tax exemption must be requested through an administrative process on the SEI platform, through online service channels or at in-person offices, in accordance with the rules set out in Law No. 7,699/2024. How to issue the invoice To issue the invoice, the taxpayer must inform the property's real estate registration or the CPF registered in the system. Check out the step by step: Access the Semfaz website and click on the "IPTU" option; Then select "IPTU 2026 Issue"; Enter the new real estate registration (17 digits), the old one (16 digits) or the CPF/CNPJ linked to the registration, in addition to the verification code; Finally, click on "Check IPTU debts". A blue bar with the property address will be displayed on the screen. The taxpayer must click on it to view the available debts. Then, simply select the installment or single quota, choose the payment date and issue the guide.
