According to the military, the victim was found lying on the bank of the stream and presented bleeding in the head region and signs of reduced level of consciousness, with suspected traumatic brain injury (TBI). ? At the scene, firefighters carried out pre-hospital care procedures and immobilized the man to remove him. Due to difficult access, the military had to employ a land rescue technique known as a rail ladder, which allowed the victim to be safely lifted to street level. After being removed from the stream, the patient was handed over to the care of an Advanced Support Unit (USA) at Samu and taken to the Hospital de Pronto Socorro (HPS) in Juiz de Fora for specialized medical care.
