The Electronic Toll marks a new phase in the operation of the Anchieta-Imigrantes System. Technology to monitor the evolution of mobility and prepare highways for the future, with more fluidity and road safety. Disclosure Implementation of the Electronic Toll and development of a new model for the Train Operation are part of the next stage of modernization of the Anchieta-Imigrantes System Over the last 50 years, the Rodovia dos Imigrantes and the Anchieta-Imigrantes System have undergone successive changes to accompany the growth in mobility between the plateau and the coast of São Paulo. The next stage of this evolution is related to how the system operates. Among the planned projects are the implementation of the Electronic Toll and the development of the Dynamic Train, an innovative and unprecedented solution in Brazil that seeks to modernize one of the highway's best-known operations during periods of fog. The two initiatives are part of the technological update process of the Anchieta-Imigrantes System and will be implemented gradually, in conjunction with ARTESP and the Highway Police. Non-stop toll The Electronic Toll gantries have already been installed on Via Anchieta, at km 33, and on Rodovia dos Imigrantes, at km 29, in both directions. The operation is scheduled to begin on August 1st, when they should replace the current physical toll plazas. With the new model, vehicles will be able to pass through the gantries without needing to reduce speed or stop to make payment. Identification will be done automatically through electronic tags, reading of license plates and sensors installed on the road. Users who already use a tag will not need to carry out any additional procedures. If the vehicle's license plate is read, the ticket can be consulted and regularized via the pedagodigital.com portal. Motorcycles will continue to be exempt from the fee. For trucks, the charge will follow the current rules, considering the number of axles in contact with the ground. The transition to the Dynamic Train Even after the Electronic Toll begins operating, the current toll plazas will remain in operation for a transition period. This is because they will continue to be used to carry out Operation Convoy, a procedure adopted in situations of intense fog to guarantee road safety. Currently, the vehicles are organized into groups and are accompanied by Highway Police vehicles during the crossing of the mountains. At the same time, Ecovias Imigrantes is developing, together with ARTESP, a new model for this operation. The proposal envisages a solution that eliminates the mandatory stopping of vehicles and uses new technologies to maintain safety standards during periods of low visibility. The project is in the final phase of discussion and approval with ARTESP. Details of the operation and technologies that will be adopted will be disclosed after this process is completed. The current toll plazas will only be removed after the new model is approved and implemented. Integrated technology The Electronic Toll is part of a set of investments aimed at modernizing the operation. Currently, the Anchieta-Imigrantes System has around 300 monitoring cameras, 47 variable message panels, sensors and teams coordinated by the Operational Control Center, which monitors highway conditions 24 hours a day. The integration of these tools will make it possible to increase the automation of the operation, reducing physical interventions and increasing response capacity in situations such as congestion, accidents and fog. Upon completing 50 years, Rodovia dos Imigrantes and the Anchieta-Imigrantes System (SAI) enter a new phase of modernization. In addition to infrastructure works, the evolution of the system involves incorporating new technologies into the operation, with a focus on traffic fluidity, road safety and preparing the corridor for increased demand.
