According to information gathered at the scene by RPC, a TV Globo affiliate in Paraná, seven other people were injured. The truck was also hit, but the driver was unharmed. The track was completely closed towards Cascavel for around two and a half hours. At 1:40 pm, EPR Litoral Pioneiro, the concessionaire responsible for the stretch, reported that one lane was opened and the flow began to flow in stop and go.
