The victim was identified as José Rodrigues da Silva. According to the Maranhão Military Police (PMMA), José succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. The reason, however, is still unknown. According to witnesses, two other people were in the car and left the scene after the accident. The Military Police searched the region, but were unable to find them until the last update of this report. The Fire Department was called because the driver was trapped in the wreckage. Military police also isolated the area and guided traffic while responding to the incident. The Criminalistics Institute (Icrim) was called to carry out an examination of the vehicle and the scene of the accident.
