Producer found destroyed chicken coop Cedida Around 150 chickens died after a dog attack on a chicken coop in the early hours of this Tuesday (7), in Jardim do Seridó, in the Seridó region of Rio Grande do Norte. The birds would be slaughtered next week and the breeder, João Victor Medeiros, estimates a loss of between R$4,000 and R$5,000. The producer said he arrived at the place around 6am to feed the animals, as he does daily. Still outside, he noticed some chickens scattered near the entrance to the chicken coop. Upon entering the space, he found all the birds dead. ? Click here to follow the g1 RN channel on WhatsApp "It was total destruction. There wasn't a chicken left to tell the story of what happened", he reported. According to João Victor, between six and ten stray dogs invaded the chicken coop during the early hours of the morning. He believes that some birds even tried to escape to a second shed, but were overtaken by the animals. Some of the chickens would also have been dragged by dogs through the streets near the city's old public slaughterhouse. In the second chicken coop, where there were 38 other birds, the dogs were unable to enter. João Victor says that he buys animals when they are just one day old and spends around 50 days feeding them until slaughter. The chickens are sold for between R$30 and R$40 to residents and commercial establishments in the municipality. He and his wife started the creation about two months ago and were still structuring the business, which today is the family's main source of income. "We're starting now. It's a little difficult to enter the trade. And, when that happens, it gets complicated", he lamented.
