Criminals are sending false emails to report supposed fines, license suspension processes and non-existent debt collections. According to Detran, the messages imitate the visual identity of official communications and try to convince victims to click on malicious links, provide personal and banking details or make payments to scammers' accounts. ? Click here to follow the g1 RN channel on WhatsApp How the scam works According to Detran, the emails usually have titles such as "Active Suspension", "Serious Infraction Detected", "Regularize your Driver's License" and "Deadline to Avoid Driving Suspension". The messages falsely inform that the driver is responding to an administrative process or has pending infractions and threaten to apply penalties, such as suspension of the driver's license, seizure of the vehicle and impediment to renewing the license. At the end, they present a button or link to supposedly regularize the situation. What to do Detran reinforces that it does not send invoices, charges or notifications for debt payment by email and advises that citizens do not click on links received in messages of this type or download attached files. It also recommends that users do not provide personal data, documents, passwords or banking information and always consult official channels before making any payment. How to consult debts According to the agency, the status of the driver's license, fines, licensing, vehicle debts and the issuance of bills must be consulted exclusively through the Detran/RN Services Portal. The department also advises that anyone hiring services related to the transit system check whether dispatchers, Driver Training Centers (CFCs), clinics, license plate printers and other professionals have regular accreditation with the agency. All payments of fees, fines and other services must be made only through invoices issued through Detran's official channels, which can be paid by bank slip or Pix, depending on the service.
