Casa das Artes hosts Mostra Saci with free children's cinema sessions during school holidays

School holidays gained a free leisure option in Belém. Between the 14th and 30th of July, Cine Alexandrino Moreira, at Casa das Artes, hosts Mostra Saci, with sessions aimed at children, always on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at 10am. The program brings together short films inspired by Brazilian folklore, with stories based on legends, popular festivals and cultural traditions. The initiative is part of the Fundação Cultural do Pará (FCP) summer camp. According to the organization, the films are part of the Mostra Saci – Adding Art to Independent Cinema, created in 2023 to promote the circulation of independent audiovisual productions from different regions of the country. According to Felipe Pamplona, ??Audiovisual Cultural Management technician at Casa das Artes, the proposal is to bring children closer to Brazilian cinema during the holiday period. "With productions that normally don't reach commercial theaters, we want to offer children, in the mornings, the opportunity to experience the cinema and discover works that dialogue with our culture, identity and reality", he states. The first session will be held on the 14th of July and will be re-screened on the 16th. Afterwards, new film selections will be presented on the 21st and 28th of July, with re-shows on the 23rd and 30th.
