The conclusion is from an inspection carried out this Monday morning (20) by Civil Defense teams, engineers from the city hall and the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy (Crea-MG). According to the preliminary report, the building showed signs of construction flaws and was built in violation of technical standards. According to the city hall, the analysis showed an incompatibility between the size of the hardware used in the structure and the load supported by the three floors, in addition to other characteristics that indicate possible deficiencies in the execution of the work. The owner will be notified to carry out the demolition as urgently as possible, this week. If the determination is not complied with, the municipality informed that it may perform the service in a subsidiary manner, adopting the appropriate legal measures. A man was partially buried and had to be rescued by the Fire Department. An elderly woman who used a wheelchair fell from the third floor onto the rubble. A third victim was injured while trying to help residents. Neighboring property will be reassessed According to the city hall, the neighboring building, located on the same lot, was inspected and, so far, does not present any structural compromise as it has an independent structure. However, a new inspection will be carried out after the demolition of the affected property to check if there was any impact on the building next door. The removal of belongings will be carried out later, in a planned manner, with support from the Civil Defense, Fire Department, Military Police and other bodies involved.
