Brothers are convicted of murdering a woman in Cariri da PB more than 25 years after the crime; defendants remain at large

According to the accusation, Edvando held the victim by the arms while Eraldo delivered more than 20 knife blows to her. The action would have taken place in front of the couple's three children, who were minors at the time. After the attack, Maria Carloneide, who was 29 years old at the time of the crime, was rescued and taken to Hospital Antônio Targino, in Campina Grande, but she succumbed to her injuries and died in the health unit. The trial took place at the Monteiro Jury Court. The defendants were sentenced to 19 years in prison, in an initially closed regime, after the jurors recognized two qualifications: the use of cruel means and the impossibility of defending the victim.
