MP seizes 2.2 tons of food unfit for consumption in RS MPRS/Disclosure The task force of the Food Safety Program, from the Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Sul, seized 2.2 tons of products unfit for consumption during an inspection carried out this Tuesday (7). The operation inspected three markets and a butcher shop in Constantina, in the north of the state. All establishments were fined. ? Access the g1 RS channel on WhatsApp During the operation, agents found several irregularities, including unsourced meat, storage and temperature problems, inadequate portioning of food and products that had expired. In one of the markets, a cold room was closed due to the poor hygiene conditions found by the inspection team.

Among the products seized were meat, fish, sausages, eggs, milk, yogurts, preserves, frozen foods, bakery snacks and pizzas. Colonial products were also collected, such as cachaça, cassava, wine and cheese, as well as alcohol units whose sale is prohibited in supermarkets. Inspectors also found casings for sausages that had expired four years ago and seasonings that had expired more than two years ago. After veterinary evaluation, part of the seized meat was donated to the Passo Fundo Zoo. Participating in the inspection operation were prosecutor Alcindo Luz Bastos da Silva Filho, from the Consumer Protection Prosecutor's Office of Porto Alegre, employees of the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (GAECO/MPRS), representatives of the Municipal Health Surveillance of Constantina, the State Department of Health, the State Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (SEAPI) and the Environmental Patrol of the Military Brigade (PATRAM).
