Anti-rabies vaccination The Municipal Health Department (SMS) announced the vaccination sites for the 2026 Anti-rabies Vaccination Campaign this Saturday (18) in Natal. Immunization is divided into five fixed points and door-to-door coverage in some neighborhoods (see locations below). According to the SMS, healthy dogs and cats aged three months and over can be vaccinated, as long as they have not undergone pharmacological treatment in the last 30 days and have not yet received the anti-rabies vaccine in 2026. ? The municipality’s goal is to achieve 80% vaccination coverage. The SMS reinforced that rabies is a viral disease that affects mammals, including dogs, cats and humans. Transmission occurs mainly through bites, scratches or contact of the saliva of an infected animal with wounds or mucous membranes. ?? As the disease presents a lethality rate close to 100% after the appearance of symptoms, periodic vaccination of animals is the main form of prevention and also helps to interrupt transmission to people.
