Antártida: Globo's new production will be highlighted at the Gramado Film Festival The organization of the Gramado Film Festival announced, this Wednesday (8), the six Brazilian fiction feature films selected for the competitive screening of the 54th edition of the event. The program takes place between August 12th and 22nd, in Serra do Rio Grande do Sul. The festival will officially open on August 14th with the screening of the film "Antártida", directed by Bruno Safadi. The work is a new production by Globo and will be presented at the Palácio dos Festivals outside of the hors-concours. ? Access the g1 RS channel on WhatsApp The cast includes Andrea Beltrão, Lázaro Ramos, Marina Ruy Barbosa, Leandra Leal, Antonio Calloni and João Vitor Silva. The film’s debut in cinemas across the country is scheduled for September 17th. In addition to the national feature films, the 18 short films from Rio Grande do Sul competing for the Legislative Assembly Cinema Award were announced. The exhibitions in this category take place on the 15th and 16th of August, with awards scheduled for the night of the 16th. The event also announced this edition's honorees. Actor, screenwriter and director Marcos Caruso will receive the Cidade de Gramado Trophy. The Sirmar Antunes Trophy will be awarded to director of photography Jorge Henrique Boca, while actress and producer Silvia Duarte will receive the Leonardo Machado Award. The Iecine Awards will go to filmmakers Renato Dornelles and Tatiana Sager (Highlight), Márcio Reolon and Filipe Matzembacher (Innovation), and producer Gisele Hiltl (Legacy). According to the organization, the feature films in the competitive exhibitions and part of the short films will have audio description features, Libras and subtitles through an application. The other contents of the program will be announced at press conferences in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, on the 13th and 16th of July.
