The crash happened at km 204.4 of the highway. Four of the victims were in the passenger car, which transported residents of Padre Paraíso, and the fifth was the occupant of the van. According to the first information from the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the two vehicles collided head-on when they were already on the shoulder of the highway. The circumstances that led to the accident are still to be determined. ?
