According to the Campinas Municipal Development Company (Emdec), the man was rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and taken to the São José Emergency Care Unit (UPA). The driver of the vehicle told traffic officers that the traffic light was green. She stated that she was surprised by the presence of the pedestrian on the road and was unable to brake in time. The Municipal Guard reported that the case was registered as negligent bodily injury (when there is no intention) while driving a motor vehicle, and that the driver was released after giving a statement at the police station.
