An 85-year-old man died this Friday morning (1st) after having 70% of his body burned in a fire in his own house, in Campinas (SP). The case occurred on Thursday afternoon (31), in the Jardim Fernanda neighborhood. The victim was called Martinho Velôncio de Jesus. According to the Military Police (PM), the fire started around 2 pm. Family members reported that the elderly man was found injured inside the bathroom of the residence. The Fire Department was called, but the flames had already been put out when the team arrived at the scene. Martinho was rescued by the Águia helicopter, from the PM, and taken to the Hospital de Clínicas (HC) of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). However, he did not survive the severity of his injuries.
