The second place in the 2026 World Cup final will be defined this Wednesday (15), when England and Argentina face each other at 4pm (Brasília time), at Atlanta Stadium, in the United States. The winner will face Spain in Sunday's decision, while the loser will compete for third place against France.

The clash pits two of the most traditional teams in world football face to face and reopens one of the greatest rivalries in the history of World Cups. This will be the first time that the English and Argentines have faced each other in a semi-final of the tournament.

England is trying to return to a World Cup final for the first time since winning the title in 1966. Under the command of Thomas Tuchel, the team reached the semifinals after finishing the group stage with seven points and eliminating the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mexico and Norway in the knockout stage.

On the other hand, Argentina seeks to defend the title won in 2022 and maintain a perfect record in the World Cup semifinals. The team led by Lionel Scaloni overcame Algeria, Austria and Jordan in the group stage before eliminating Cape Verde, Egypt and Switzerland in the knockout stages.

The duel also puts two of the main names in the competition face to face: Harry Kane, English top scorer and captain, and Lionel Messi, who is trying to lead Argentina to another World Cup final.

In the English team, Tuchel must repeat the basis used in the quarter-finals, with Declan Rice confirmed after recovering from a virus. Bukayo Saka is competing for a place in the starting lineup, while defender Jarell Quansah is suspended.

For Argentina, Scaloni should not promote major changes in relation to the team that beat Switzerland. Julián Álvarez remains Messi's partner in attack, while Nahuel Molina appears as the favorite to start on the right flank.

The match will be refereed by the North American Ismail Elfath.

Where to watch

The clash will be broadcast live on TV Globo, sportv, ge, Globoplay and CazéTV.
