Brazilian muay thai champion dies at age 20 in accident

The young man's death caused commotion among sports entities, coaches and teammates. In a statement, the Bahian Muay Thai Federation lamented the loss and highlighted Renato's importance for the sport.

“Today, Bahian sport is in mourning,” stated the entity.

According to the president of the federation, Marcos Araújo, Renato started practicing Muay Thai at the age of 12 on the Xtreme Fight team, under the command of coach Alex Silva.

He recalled that the athlete won the titles of Bahian and Brazilian champion in 2026, in addition to being part of the Bahia Muay Thai Team.

"He was an athlete of enormous talent, disciplined and with an extremely promising future," he declared.

When paying tribute, the director highlighted that the fighter's trajectory will remain a reference in the sport.

"Rest in peace, Renato. Your legacy will remain alive in the history of Muay Thai in Bahia and in the memory of everyone who had the privilege of knowing your trajectory", he wrote.

The Xtreme Fight team, of which Renato was part, also published a farewell message on social media.

"Today we didn't just lose an athlete, or just a teacher. We lost a family member. The Xtreme family is in mourning and grateful that you were a part of it. You're gone, but your legacy remains."

The Brazilian Confederation of Muay Thai/Thai Boxing also mourned the death of the young athlete and highlighted his dedication to the sport.

"Renato was recognized for his talent, dedication and passion for martial arts. Unfortunately, his life was cut short in a tragic motorcycle accident. His legacy will remain alive in the history of Muay Thai in Bahia. Rest in peace, warrior", stated the entity.
