These are the only verses heard throughout the two minutes of the recording of “Our hands converse”, the third of the 13 songs in the arrangement of tracks on Lucina’s new album, “Bicho Pedra Gente”. For this reason, the almost haiku-style lyrics by São Paulo poet André Arruda are in tune with the minimalist aesthetic of the album that arrives on the digital world tomorrow, Saturday, August 8th. The affinity happens because Lucina's music – a singer and songwriter from Mato Grosso created in the 1970s as a member of the duo Luli & Lucina (1972 – 1998) – also seeks less is more, breathing, as highlighted in the verse of “Um dia fora do tempo”, a song that opens the album recorded at the beginning of the year at the Hi Eight studio, in Niterói (RJ), with production and musical direction by Patrícia Ferraz. The option for a minimalist instrumental contributes to the harmonic atmosphere of the album. Generally, Lucina's voice and guitar are joined by only the touch of an instrumentalist, who can be the acoustic guitarist and guitarist Walter Villaça (present in “Nem era dia santo” and in the aforementioned “Our Hands Conversam”), the versatile Christiaan Oyens – guitarist, bassist, drummer and arranger of “A Lua Remembrance” – or Lui Coimbra, responsible for the arrangement and playing of the cello that adorns “O que faz não” and the aforementioned “A day out of time”. Lucina is ArrudA's partner on songs such as ' Há brooks ', ' Nossas Mãos Conversam ' and ' Um dia fora do tempo ' Gabriel Marcondes / Disclosure The cover of “Bicho Pedra Gente” shows that the album is signed by Lucina with André Arruda – whose synthetic artistic name is Arruda, stylistically spelled as ArrudA – because the lyrics of all 13 new songs are by the poet. Regardless of the variable carat of each song, the synchrony between lyrics and music is always observed in tracks such as “Tessituras” and the title composition “Bicho Pedra Gente”, both recorded with pianist and keyboardist Adriano Souza. Within the essentially organic architecture of the album, the electronic texture of Sandro Moreno's percussion differentiates itself in the balance of the song “É Onde”, helping to prevent the delicate tempo of the 13 tracks from sounding excessively linear. Lucina's partnership with arrudA is also in tune because the poet's lyrics are set in nature, the natural habitat of the composer's music since the duo's time with Luhli (1945 – 2018). “A shadow of the moon in the sun” – another song formatted with arrangement and piano by Adriano Souza – and “Has creeks” already carry elements of this nature in the title. “There are immense streams / Every day dying / Every day being born / In the cracks of time”, observes Lucina in the corner of the song adorned with guitars and the arrangement by Nando Duarte. ArrudA's voice can be heard on the album in the poem included in the final track, “Quantos Universos”, punctuated by the clarinet of Joana Queiroz, the song's arranger. “The wind knows my address”, warns arrudA, who lives in the same place as Lucina’s light music, whose album “Bicho Pedra Gente” sounds like a necessary breather in anxious times.
