The band from Paraíba Papangu releases their third studio album, 'Celestial', on August 7th, the day they begin their tour of Europe Rodolfo Salgueiro and Helder Bruno / Disclosure ? NEWS ? Band from Paraíba that moves between extreme metal and progressive rock, with the Brazilian flavor of northeastern genres such as ciranda and forrozeiro rhythms, Papangu invests in this mix in the third album of studio, “Celestial”, scheduled to be released on August 7th with ten original songs and a cover that displays art created by Juliana Lapa. Scheduled to be released in the physical formats of LP, CD and even cassette tape, in addition to the digital edition, “Celestial” follows the albums “Holoceno” (released in 2021 with metal with an apocalyptic atmosphere) and “Lampião rei” (released in 2024 with a narrative based on magical realism about cangaço) in the discography of the group formed in 2012 in João Pessoa (PB). “Celestial” is Papangu's last album with drummer and percussionist Vitor Alves in the lineup, as the musician left the band in 2026 and was replaced by George Alexandria. George joined the two remaining members of the band's original lineup, Hector Ruslan (vocals and guitar) and Marco Mayer (vocals and bass), as had multi-instrumentalist Pedro Francisco (since 2022) and keyboardist Rodolfo Salgueiro (also since 2022) four years ago. As “Celestial” was recorded in 2025, the album still features Vitor Alves, who had joined the band in 2022 in place of the original drummer, Nichollas Jaques. Scheduled for the same August 7th that the quintet (already with George Alexandria in the lineup) begins a tour in Europe that includes 16 performances until August 29th, the album “Celestial” was recorded by Richard Behrens in an entirely analogue manner between September 2nd and 10th, 2025 at Big Snuff Studio in Berlin, Germany, with a repertoire consisting of the songs “Mau-olhado”, “Colosso”, “Taxidermia”, “Bode expiatory”, “Celeste”, “Closure”, “Quiet (with an eye)”, “Iamanakaru”, “Affirmation” and “Outro”. In addition to recording the album on two-inch magnetic tape, with an arsenal of vintage equipment used to evoke the tones of records from the 1960s and 1970s, Richard Behrens also created the mix of “Celestial”, the first album by the band Papangu released by the Rio de Janeiro label Deck.
