The Military Police of Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ) dismantled a clandestine printing plant used to print counterfeit money in the community of Parque União, in the North Zone of the city, on Wednesday, August 5th. According to the police, the place was known as “Barraco da Moeda” and was found during an operation against the criminal group Comando Vermelho (CV), in Complexo da Maré, a large group of favelas in the North Zone of Rio.

According to the police, cited by Metrópoles, the agents were carrying out an operation in the region with the aim of arresting traffickers from CV suspected of stealing cargo and vehicles in that area.

“From the early hours of the morning, agents from the Dog Action Battalion (BAC) and the Shock Police Battalion (BPChq) carried out searches inside the community,” PMERJ informed the same newspaper.

During patrolling, in the Nova Holanda community, police officers found a property considered suspicious. During the searches, they located a room where the clandestine printing house operated.

The printer and hundreds of fake ballots were seized and taken to the police station. In the images released by the police, it is possible to see fake notes of 10, 20 and 100 reais.
