The company's revenue, which is implementing a staff reduction plan that affects thousands of employees, fell 0.2% in the first half, to 158.102 billion euros. Operating profit (EBIT) fell 11.6%, totaling 5.931 billion euros.
In the second quarter, net profit showed an even greater drop compared to the same period in 2025, falling 32.9%, to 1.538 billion euros. Revenue, on the other hand, increased by just 2%, reaching 82.444 billion euros.
In a statement, Volkswagen acknowledged that it faces "a challenging market environment", but highlighted that revenue remained "practically at the same level" recorded in the first six months of 2025, when it totaled 158.364 billion euros.
Restructuring continues
The Volkswagen Group, Europe's largest car manufacturer, is continuing with a restructuring plan presented in 2025, which envisages the reduction of around 50,000 jobs. The majority of the cuts are expected to affect the Volkswagen brand, with approximately 35,000 vacancies, while the remainder will be distributed between Audi and Porsche.
Recently, the company's executive president, Oliver Blume, stated in an internal interview - obtained by Der Spiegel magazine - that he is considering promoting a new round of cuts, which could reach up to 50 thousand jobs worldwide.
