Lustosa participated this Wednesday in a meeting with members of the Lula administration, such as vice-president Geraldo Alckmin. "The transport sector is a middle activity, a link between the industrial sector, which produces, and those who consume. So as the load reduces, our sector suffers", stated Lustosa. Asked about the possibility of Brazil adopting retaliatory measures and applying reciprocal tariffs against North American products, the president of Fenatac warned of the risks of an escalation in the trade crisis. According to him, acting in the same way as the US could worsen the conflict and make the situation of Brazilian companies even worse. Instead of a retaliatory response, Lustosa defends a permanent channel of dialogue between the federal government and the national productive sector to seek a negotiated solution. Although the sector does not yet have consolidated figures on the financial loss or the total volume of reduction in freight flow, the entity's president highlighted that the practical effects of the measure will be felt immediately in the logistics chain.
