The Senate approved this Wednesday (8) a provisional measure (MP) that releases a financing line of R$15 billion for companies affected by the tariffs imposed by the United States on Brazilian products and also by the war in the Middle East. The text will now go to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for sanction. The credit will be offered within the Sovereign Brazil Plan for exporters of industrial goods, agricultural and livestock products and mining resources. The benefit can be used to cover daily expenses, such as paying employees, purchasing machinery and equipment, and investing in technology. After publishing the MP, the government explained that the criteria prioritized industries with greater technological intensity and strategic relevance for the country, in addition to those harmed by US tariff measures and the war between this country and Iran. The selection also considered the relevance of the sectors for Brazilian foreign trade, including strategic chains and those that present external vulnerability, with a deficit in the trade balance, the government explained.
