IBGE: vacancies for professionals throughout Brazil Tânia Rêgo/Agência Brasil Registration for the second simplified selection process of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) to work in the 12th Agricultural, Forestry and Aquaculture Census and the 1st National Census of Homeless Population ends this Wednesday (15), at 11:59 pm. The selection offers 1,414 temporary vacancies for the positions of Census Analyst and Quality Census Agent. This is the second selection process launched by IBGE for the 2026 census. While the first notice, for which registration ended last week, offered 8,238 mid-level vacancies for operational and supervisory roles, this one brings together opportunities for Census Analyst (higher level) and Quality Census Agent (mid-level) – see the difference. ? Interested parties must register exclusively online, on the Instituto Avalia website, the selection organizing committee. The registration fee varies depending on the position: Quality Census Agent: R$41.76; Census Analyst: R$37.50. The notice provides for exemption from the fee for candidates registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico) and for bone marrow donors who meet the established criteria. Of the total vacancies, 1,020 are for Census Analyst and 394 for Quality Census Agent. Remuneration varies depending on the role: Quality Census Agent (ACQ): requires complete secondary education and offers a salary of R$2,932; Census Analyst (AC): requires higher education in specific areas and offers a salary of R$5,255.40. Census Analyst vacancies cover different areas of training, such as Agronomy, Social Assistance, Librarianship, Cartography, Data Science, Accounting Sciences, Social Sciences, Educational Design, Information Technology, Economics, Production Engineering, Statistics, Geography, Geoprocessing, Journalism, among others. In both positions, the working day is 40 hours per week. In addition to the salary, those hired will be entitled to food allowance of R$1,192 per month, transportation allowance, pre-school allowance and proportional holiday payment and 13th salary, depending on the period worked. ? The Agricultural Census is one of the main surveys carried out by IBGE and aims to gather information on the structure and production of rural establishments. The data collected guides public policies, financing programs and actions aimed at developing the agricultural sector.

?? The 1st National Census of Homeless Population is an unprecedented survey that will map, count and profile people living on the streets across the country. The research will gather information such as number of people, geographic distribution, sociodemographic profile and living conditions. Who can participate? Candidates who meet the education requirements and other conditions set out in the notice may participate. For a Quality Census Agent, a high school diploma is required. For Census Analyst, higher education diploma in the area corresponding to the vacancy. In addition, candidates must: Be at least 18 years old on the date of hiring; Being Brazilian or Portuguese protected by the Statute of Equality between Brazilians and Portuguese; Be up to date with electoral obligations and, in the case of male candidates, also with military obligations; Be in full exercise of political rights; Have physical and mental aptitude to perform the role; Meet the other requirements set out in the notice. Candidates who: Hold a position or job in the federal, state, district or municipal public administration cannot be hired; Are retired from public service or the Armed Forces, Military Police or Military Fire Brigades; Are business owners or administrators, including individual micro-entrepreneurs (MEIs); Have been temporarily hired by the federal government based on Law No. 8,745/1993 in the last 24 months, except in cases provided for by law. Reservation of vacancies The notice provides for reservation of vacancies for affirmative actions, distributed as follows: 5% for people with disabilities (PwD); 25% for black and brown people (PPP); 3% for indigenous people (IP); 2% for quilombola people (PQ). In total, 30% of vacancies are reserved for black and brown, indigenous and quilombola candidates, in addition to a 5% reserve for people with disabilities. Candidates registered in quotas also compete for open competition positions. If they obtain a sufficient score to pass the general list, they will be called up through this modality and will not occupy a reserved place. If the candidate falls into more than one quota category, he or she will be classified primarily in the one with the highest reservation percentage. Reserved vacancies that are not filled will be redistributed according to the criteria set out in the notice. All candidates will take the same tests and will be evaluated using the same criteria, regardless of the type of competition. What will the test be like? The selection will consist of an objective test, of an eliminatory and classificatory nature, lasting four hours. The exam will have 60 multiple choice questions, with five alternatives and only one correct answer. The distribution of subjects varies depending on the position. Portuguese Language Quality Census Agent (15 questions); Quantitative Logical Reasoning (10); Geography (15); Technical Knowledge (20). Portuguese Language Census Analyst (15 questions); Quantitative Logical Reasoning (10); Specific Knowledge (35). The minimum approval criteria also vary depending on the position. Quality Census Agent gets at least 30% of the test correct; get at least one question correct from each subject.

The tests will be administered on August 30th, in all capitals and in the Federal District, in different shifts: Morning: Quality Census Agent (ACQ); Afternoon: Census Analyst (AC). On the day of the test, the candidate must: Present an official document with photo; Bring a ballpoint pen with blue or black ink, made of transparent material; Arrive at least one hour in advance; Respect the rules of the notice, which prohibit the use of cell phones, watches, calculators and other electronic equipment during the test. How long does the contract last? Temporary contracts will initially last up to 12 months. The contracts will initially be signed for periods of 30 days, with the possibility of successive extensions, according to IBGE's needs, budget availability and the professional's performance. Extensions may occur according to the institute's needs and the progress of data collection, respecting the maximum limit of 48 months, provided for in the legislation for temporary hiring. During this period, professionals will be periodically evaluated based on criteria such as attendance, productivity, meeting deadlines and quality of activities performed. Reserve registration Although the notice does not provide for the formation of a reserve registration, approved candidates beyond the number of immediate vacancies may be called during the validity of the selection process, in case of withdrawals, contract terminations or new IBGE needs, always respecting the classification order. Schedule The main dates of the selection process are: July 15th — registration closes; August 24th — announcement of the test call card; August 30 — application of the objective test; August 31st — publication of the preliminary answer sheet; September 25th — publication of the definitive result of the objective test and the preliminary selection result; October 28th — publication of the final result of the procedure to apply for reserved vacancies; November 6th — announcement of the final selection results.
