Cold front spreads storms in the South and advances to other areas of Brazil; check the forecast

According to Climatempo, the cold front continues to advance through southern Brazil this Wednesday (22), maintaining the risk of storms and heavy rain, mainly between Santa Catarina and Paraná.

The system also begins to cause changes in the weather in Mato Grosso do Sul and the state of São Paulo, while low air humidity remains at critical levels in areas of the Center-West, Southeast, Northeast and North of the country.

South

This Wednesday, the cold front advances through other areas of southern Brazil and spreads instability over Santa Catarina and Paraná. The presence of a low pressure area close to the region's coast reinforces the formation of rain areas.

From the early hours of the day, the rain gains strength in Santa Catarina and also in the west, southwest, south and central region of Paraná, with precipitation of moderate to heavy intensity, risk of thunderstorms and high accumulations, mainly in the south of Paraná, in areas on the border with Santa Catarina and in the west and southwest of Paraná, where there is a chance of high accumulations of rain and the situation is dangerous.

In the northern half of Rio Grande do Sul, Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, Costa Doce, Vales, central-east and coastal strip of Rio Grande do Sul there is also a forecast of rain showers from early on, with moderate to strong intensity and risk of storms in the north, northeast and Serra Gaúcha in the morning.

Throughout the afternoon, the instability loses a little intensity in the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, but there is still the possibility of moderate rain in most of these states and, occasionally, heavier rain, especially in the west of Santa Catarina, the North Coast, Serra Gaúcha and the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre.

In Paraná, instability spreads to other areas of the state and remains concentrated in the extreme north and northeast until the end of the day, decreasing in Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.

Temperatures remain mild in most of the South Region and also decrease in Paraná, due to the advance of rain and increased cloudiness. In the extreme north of Paraná, however, the pre-frontal condition still favors a warmer afternoon.

Southeast

In the Southeast, the weather remains firm in São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo for much of the day.

The sun predominates among few clouds and there is no rain forecast in most of the region. Temperatures remain high during the afternoon, while the early mornings remain milder in some areas, mainly in the higher altitude areas of Minas Gerais.

In São Paulo, the prefrontal condition favors an even greater rise in temperatures.

Low relative air humidity continues to be one of the main highlights in the north, central, northeast, east and much of the coast of the state of São Paulo, Triângulo Mineiro, south, north and center-west of Minas Gerais, mainly in the west, northwest and in parts of the north of Minas Gerais, where rates should be between 12% and 20%, keeping the risk of fires high.

At some times of the day, light and isolated rain is forecast on the coast of Espírito Santo and northeast Minas Gerais due to the circulation of maritime humidity.

During the afternoon and evening, with the approach of the cold front, new areas of instability advance over the extreme west, southwest, south and south coast of São Paulo, favoring moderate to heavy rain.

Moderate to strong wind gusts are also expected as the cold front approaches areas of the state of São Paulo.

Midwest

In the Midwest, the weather remains stable in most of the region.

In the rainy areas in Mato Grosso do Sul, wind gusts between 50 and 70 km/h are expected due to the passage of the cold front.

Northeast

In the Northeast, the rain remains concentrated on the coastal strip.

On the coast of Bahia, especially between the region of Salvador and the northern coastal strip, and between the coast and eastern strip of Sergipe and Rio Grande do Norte, rain showers of moderate to heavy intensity may occur, favored by the circulation of moisture coming from the ocean and the action of Eastern Wave Disturbances (DOLs), common systems in the Northeast mainly in autumn and winter.
