In a statement to the police, the 35-year-old driver reported that only after traveling about 50 meters he heard people shouting for him to stop. When he parked the vehicle, he discovered that he had run over the cyclist.
According to the police report, the driver was subjected to a breathalyzer test, which showed a result of zero for alcohol consumption.
Criminal expert Deusimar Rosa reported, preliminarily, that the evidence indicates that the trailer was turning when one of the rear tires passed over the victim and the electric bicycle. "Everything indicates that at this intersection between the avenues he tried to maneuver to enter Avenida das Figueiras and, in this maneuver, one of the rear tires of the truck passed over the lady and her bicycle. It passed practically along her entire longitudinal axis, over almost her entire body and also over the bicycle. She was probably stationary or very close to it", he explained.
The circumstances of the accident continue to be investigated by the Civil Police, who are awaiting the conclusion of expert reports to clarify the dynamics of the collision and define possible responsibility for the case.
