State deputy Júlio Campos (União), older brother of senator Jayme Campos (União), raised the suspicion that “unseemly proposals” were reaching the members of União Brasil so that they could vote against Jayme's candidacy for State Government at the party convention.

The speech directly targets the party's internal dispute, which will decide whether the Union launches its own candidacy or embarks on the re-election project of governor Otaviano Pivetta (Republicans). Júlio, however, did not present names, did not detail what the proposals would be or indicate who was behind the movement.

The statement plants distrust in the conventional process, but it also opens up another behind-the-scenes reading: it could serve as an advance password to contest the result if Jayme is unable to confirm, in the vote, the majority she claims to have within the party.
