The 22,000-kilometer strip of land belongs to Pará, but Mato Grosso wants control under the argument that it provides essential services such as security and health to residents. According to Max, more than 20 thousand Pará SUS cards were used in Mato Grosso.
"If we don't get the area, let the municipalities of Mato Grosso be compensated by the State of Pará. It's not fair for Pará to get revenue and not help that population in any way," he said in an interview with Rádio CBN.
The expectation is that Minister Flávio Dino, from the STF, will resume discussion on the case in November, after the elections, to avoid interference during the electoral period.
