The cost of construction in Mato Grosso registered an increase of 1.63% in June, with the square meter reaching R$3,200.19 for residential projects of normal standard (R-8), according to data from the Construction Industries Union of Mato Grosso (Sinduscon-MT). The variation is the biggest monthly increase recorded in 2026.

The result considers the Basic Unit Cost (CUB/m²), an indicator used as a reference to monitor the evolution of civil construction costs. In May, the value was R$3,148.99 per square meter.

Although important materials for the structure of the works maintained stable behavior or declined, the increase in labor costs had a greater influence on the result. The hourly value of servants recorded an increase of 9.09%, while that of bricklayers increased 1.53% in relation to May.

Among the main construction inputs, CA-50 steel, one of the materials most used in structures, registered a new drop of 1.79% in June, accumulating a drop of 14.06% in 2026. Cement maintained the same price as the previous month, but still accumulates a 10% drop in the year.

In addition to labor, some materials showed small fluctuations. Aluminum frames rose 0.35%, copper wire rose 0.31% and asphalt emulsion increased 0.38%. On the other hand, plasterboard fell 5%, fiber cement tiles fell 1.75% and ceramic blocks fell 1.49% in the month.

Even with the increase in June, the behavior of inputs demonstrates that the cost of construction continues to be the result of the combination of materials, labor and other components that make up the CUB, an indicator used as a reference to monitor the evolution of costs in the sector.

The president of Sinduscon-MT, Claudio Ottaiano, highlights that the CUB is an indicator that reflects the average variation in construction costs as a whole. However, each work has its own characteristics, with designs, standards and specificities that can directly influence the final cost.

“Therefore, the index should be used as a reference, and not as an absolute value for each enterprise”, explains the president.

According to Ottaiano, the June result demonstrates that the cost of construction is influenced by different factors, not just the prices of materials.

“Although important inputs continue to show stability or even reduction in prices, as is the case of steel and cement, the update in labor costs had a relevant impact on this month's indicator, reflecting the natural dynamics of the sector”, he assesses.
