According to initial information, the rear carriage of a trailer became detached while the vehicle was traveling along the highway. The structure invaded the opposite lane and hit another trailer heading in the opposite direction.
Due to the violence of the collision, the driver of the second truck died at the scene. So far, the identity of the victim has not been released by authorities.
The accident caused the total closure of BR-163, creating a long traffic jam in both directions of the highway. Rescue teams and competent bodies were called to respond to the incident, carry out investigations and work to remove the vehicles involved.
The causes of the wagon's detachment are yet to be investigated by the responsible authorities.
The release of the track depends on the completion of service work and removal of trailers.
