Isabel, 22, is a former football player and played for Bryne FK's youth teams, the same club where Haaland started his career. In a video published on social media, she said that she left professional sport, but still misses her routine on the pitch. "To be honest, I wasn't the best at dribbling. I was more about speed, about running," she said.
The two grew up in the city of Bryne, in southern Norway, and met as teenagers, when they played for the local club's youth teams.
In a video published on the attacker's YouTube channel, Isabel recalled an episode from her childhood and said that she used to watch Haaland during meetings between friends and family. In a relaxed tone, she recalled that she even spied on him through the keyhole when he was in another room of the house.
Despite having known each other since they were young, the relationship only began in 2021. In an interview with Norwegian broadcaster NRK, Haaland revealed that it was Isabel who took the initiative, sent the first message and arranged a meeting.
