Noticias ao Minuto - Brasil

Students who want a scholarship to pursue an undergraduate degree at a private college should pay attention to the deadline for free registration for the selection process for the University for All Program (Prouni) in the second semester, which ends at 11:59 pm this Friday (10), Brasília time.

The federal initiative offers full scholarships – which cover 100% of the monthly fee – and partial scholarships – 50% of the monthly fee – in undergraduate and sequential specific training courses at private higher education institutions.

In this second semester, the program offers more than 471 thousand partial and full scholarships in 879 private higher education institutions.

Online registration

The registration procedure must be done exclusively through the Single Portal for Access to Higher Education, of the Ministry of Education (MEC), in the Prouni part. There is no need to pay any fees.

The candidate must choose to compete for scholarships intended for broad competition or those intended for people with disabilities (PWD) and self-declared indigenous, brown or black people.

The Ministry of Education published a step-by-step guide to help interested parties register. Check it out here.

Who can register

To register, the student must have completed high school; participated in the 2024 or 2025 editions of the National High School Exam (Enem); obtained at least 450 points on the average of the five exam tests; and has not written the Enem essay to zero.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following conditions:

have completed high school in a public school;

have completed high school with a full scholarship or partial scholarship at a private institution;

having mixed secondary education between public and private schools.

be a person with a disability as provided for in legislation;

be an active teacher in the public education network who wants to study a degree or pedagogy. For these teachers, the income limit that applies to other candidates is not required.

Anyone who participated in Enem as a trainer, that is, for self-assessment before even completing high school, cannot register for Prouni 2026.

Furthermore, all applicants must be aware of the income criteria required to obtain the scholarship.

For full scholarships, the gross monthly family income per person is up to 1.5 minimum wages.

For partial scholarships, which cover 50% of the monthly fee, the gross monthly family income per person is up to three minimum wages.

Classification

For classification purposes and possible pre-selection in the selection process, the best grade that the Prouni participant had in Enem will be adopted.

The classification will also observe the type of competition chosen when registering by the candidate, by course, shift, place of offer and institution, in addition to considering whether the candidate competes in broad competition or for scholarships intended for the implementation of affirmative policies.

Result

The result of the first call will be announced on July 15th on the Prouni page. The second call will go out on August 5th.

After that, those selected in the first call need to prove their information from July 15th to 24th. Those in the second call must confirm between the 5th and 14th of August.
