The accident occurred on the morning of June 23, when a car driver reduced speed to turn. The other driver behind, distracted, was unable to brake in time and caused a collision.
In an interview with 'G1', Paulo Amaral, 37 years old, the driver of the first vehicle said that his first concern was for his daughter, who was in the back seat. After confirming that the girl was fine, he got out of the car and went to talk to the other driver.
It was at that moment that he realized that Eduardo Santos, 34 years old, was not well and asked him if he wanted a hug. The man, a civil servant and pastor, accepted. He told him that he was mourning his father's death and that he was facing financial problems. After the hug, the two said a prayer.
"I felt very good. I felt a great comfort, a great welcome. It was a moment, as he said, prepared by God. Sometimes we are going through complicated, difficult situations, and God prepares a moment for us", said Eduardo.
The story went viral thanks to Silvio, a bricklayer who was unable to work due to shoulder inflammation. The man then usually follows the images from security cameras in the region and, upon seeing the accident, thought that Paulo and Eduardo were going to argue - something that is already common among drivers.
"I thought they were going to get out and fight, like a lot of people do. But it wasn't. It was different, the opposite. And that's how it has to be. There has to be friendship in traffic", said Silvio.
Now, for Paulo, "a great friendship was born" between the two. "And this seed, I have faith that it will germinate. And it will germinate like a very beautiful tree", he guaranteed.
The losses from the accident ended up being irrelevant, with the damage to both cars covered by insurance.
