US Army says it attacked 90 Iranian military targets

US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that the bombings hit air defense systems and missile and drone depots. Military logistics infrastructure along the Iranian coast was also targeted in the new round of attacks.

The military action seeks to reduce Iran's ability to attack commercial vessels. In a statement, Washington stated that the operation serves to protect civilian sailors who sail through the Strait of Hormuz.

The American military classified recent operations as successful. "The latest strikes follow the successful execution of offensive strikes in Iran the previous night," the military command said in a statement.

On Tuesday (7), American forces had already bombed another 80 military targets in Iran. The previous offensive also hit more than 60 vessels of the country's Revolutionary Guard.

The offensive is a response to Iranian attacks on commercial ships. According to the US government, Iran violated a ceasefire agreement by attacking three vessels sailing through the region.

Explosions were heard on Wednesday in the cities of Jask, Bushehr, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, and the island of Abu Musa. In Bushehr, there are reports of electricity cuts. There is still no information on the number of deaths or injuries.

Iran said it had deployed air defenses against 'hostile targets'. According to information from the Mehr agency, the Persian country's defenses were moved near the port city of Bandar Abbas.

The military advisor to Iran's supreme leader, Mohsen Rezarei, published a verse from the Quran on X in response to the attacks. "The enemy aggressor and his accomplices will be severely punished," added the advisor.

On Wednesday, United States President Donald Trump declared the temporary ceasefire between the two countries ended. "For me, it's over," he said, during the NATO (Western military alliance) summit in Ankara, Turkey. The US president also used his participation in the summit to threaten today's attacks. "We're going to hit them hard tonight," he said.

The new bombings also came less than 24 hours after the latest wave of US attacks on several sites in southern Iran, including military installations and radar systems. Iranian headquarters promised a "strong response" against the US.

"I don't want to deal with them anymore. They're scum. You know what scum is? They're scum. They're sick people. They're led by sick people," Trump said of Iran's leadership.

Trump claimed to be "No. 1 on Iran's hit list." The statement was made during a press interview at the NATO summit. He also called the offensive against Iran "a tremendous military success" and said again that the country "will never have a nuclear weapon." "They had leaders, they're gone. Now there's another group of leaders. They might as well go. And you know what? I might not be here anymore either, because I'm their number one target."

During an event in Milwaukee (USA), Vice President JD Vance also said that Iran disobeyed the agreement initially made and returned to threaten the Persian country. "The basic agreement we made was this: we will lift the blockade if you stop shooting at the ships! (...) But if you shoot at the ships, we will fight back, and we will fight back with more force than ever before," he said.
