The video was originally published on Truth Social by an account identified as End Wokeness and later shared by Trump. The post had the following caption: "A public school in St. Paul, Minnesota. All the girls are wearing hijab... in kindergarten."
In December, Trump had already been criticized for calling Minnesota congresswoman Ilhan Omar, a Somali-American, and other Somali immigrants “trash” during a televised meeting. At the time, he also suggested that these immigrants should “go back to where they came from”.
“I don’t want them in our country,” he said during a session at the White House. "I'll be honest. Someone will say, 'That's not politically correct.' I don't want to know. I don't want them in our country."
