Ushakov, who called the conversation "professional and quite constructive", stated that Russia seeks "a political-diplomatic resolution of the conflict, taking into account Russia's fundamental approach." The advisor also accused Kiev and its European allies of "betting on prolonging and even escalating the conflict, as well as terrorism against civilians." The statement makes reference to the long-range attacks carried out by Ukraine against Russian targets, mainly linked to the oil industry, which caused fuel shortages in several regions of Russia. According to Ushakov, Putin "described the real situation on the battlefield, where the Russian armed forces confidently advance, liberating one locality after another." On Friday (3), Russian commanders informed Putin that Moscow troops had captured the strategic city of Kostiantynivka, in the Donetsk region, in eastern Ukraine.
